01 / Problem statement
The forms arrived wrong; the pour still had a deadline.
Incorrectly sized concrete formers were delivered to the site immediately before a scheduled foundation pour. Delaying the work would have disrupted the schedule, so the problem became finding a viable new arrangement overnight—without compromising the foundation’s requirements.
02 / Solution implementation
Fast planning, with the details still accounted for.
I spent the night designing an alternate former arrangement that could use the delivered materials while satisfying the needs of the planned foundation. The solution balanced dimensional constraints, available inventory, and the practical sequence required to keep the crew moving the next day.
Design principle
Keep the deadline in view, and the details closer.
A useful site solution does more than solve a drawing problem—it must also be understandable and executable when time is tight.
03 / Outcome
A revised plan that kept the foundation on schedule.
The alternate arrangement allowed the concrete foundation to be poured as planned. The experience reinforced an essential part of engineering work: when circumstances change, a clear and carefully reasoned response can turn a costly interruption into forward motion.
